The Tribal Roots reggae concert went down last Friday May 29th at Auckland Town Hall with House Of Shem, Three Houses Down, Sweet & Irie & Unity Pacific.
All the bands played killer sets to a small but very enthusiastic crowd of reggae lovers. Our highlight for the night was however our own Sweet & Irie who played their biggest and best set to date! (That's not biased is it?)
The S3 Pacific Music Awards were held at Telstra Clear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau on Saturday night. Dawn Raid picked up three awards!
One of the four we were nominated for was taken out by Devolo - Best Pacific Male Artist. While Sweet & Irie were honoured with the Phillip Fuemana Most Promising Artist Award. Savage was also honoured for his international achievements with 'Swing'. The first time ever an International Acheivement award was given out. 'Swing' is now the most sucessful NZ song overseas ever!!!
Congrats also to Nesian Mystik who took 4 awards from 4 nominations including the prestigous Tui Award for Pacific Album Of The Year.

With Devolo doing the NZ remix of 'Bottle Pop' him and Andy got to meet the girls and hang out and get some pics before checking out the show. Adam Holt and the team from Universal were also there to present PCD with their platinum plaques for their sales in New Zealand.

As posted last week Savage, Alphrisk, Devolo, Brotha D & Andy were in Samoa to film a new Savage video 'I Love The Islands' with Director Chris Graham the man responsible for the film 'Sione's Wedding' and many major NZ Music videos including current hits Savage's 'Wild Out' and Smashproof's 'Brother'. 'I Love The Islands' will be the third single from Savage's album 'Savage Island'.
Savage & the boys also put on a huge concert at Faleata Gym 1 with a fantastic local turnout! Big thanks to AGGIE GREYS HOTEL, Samoa Tourism Authority, Digicel and Event Polynesia for looking after us in Samoa.
Big congratulations to Kirk Harding, Smashproof & MTC Records for breaking a 22 year old NZ record for longest run at #1 on the RIANZ Official Top 40 Singles chart. 'Brother' Has now been at #1 for 10 consecutive weeks. The previous record for the longest run at #1 on the NZ Singles chart by a local act was previously set by the America's Cup-themed single 'Sailing Away' by All Of Us, which spent nine consecutive weeks at the top in 1986.
J. Williams hit the top 5 with 'Ghetto Flower' - Smashproof's next single - 'It's Friday' also debuted at #19 this week and David Dallas 'Indulge Me' Feat Devolo debuted at #38. Savage's 'Wild Out' is on the way out but still sitting at #34 and keep a keen eye for his new single and Video 'Hot Like Fire' in the next week or two.

Thanks to everyone who braved the rain for the evening and came out to the Rainbows End Savage Island Release Party Concert Extravaganza. The rain died off before 5:00pm and stayed away for the rest of the night. Everyone was treated to great performances by Devolo, Sweet & Irie, Mareko, J.Williams and of course the man of the moment Savage. Scribe jumped up with Sav for the Not Many Remix and his fellow Deceptikonz and Horsemen boys did their thing too.
Some very important people were in attendance including Universal CEO Adam Holt, Brendan Smyth from NZ On Air and Manukau Mayor Len Brown who presented Savage with his plaque for selling platinum (over 1 million) singles in the US. Savage then presented the Mayor and people of Manukau City and South Auckland a plaque to recognise them.

Dawn Raid is officially back in Australia. Brotha D and Andy flew to Sydney last week and signed a new label deal with George Ash at Universal Music Australia. The first release in Australia will be "Savage Island" followed by records from Devolo, Deceptikonz and Sweet & Irie.
Dawn Raid Music Publishing has also resigned a new deal with our fantastic publisher for the past few years Universal Music Publishing Australia. The people responsible for placing "Swing" in Knocked Up, songs in Superbad and many other great placements.
Savage returned to his former high school Wesley College last week as part of his exclusive interview with Campbell Live scheduled to go to air this week. The Wesley students performed an honourary haka for Savage with Savage returning the gesture by performing his latest hit single "Wild Out".

The 7th Annual DR Xmas Party was held on the 20th of December at Zen in Auckland city. A huge number of invited guests and free ticket winners from MaiFM packed out Zen for a great night of performances from some of our finest talent. This is the first time in history a NZ/Aus Hip Hop artist has ever appeared in the prestigious Billboard hip hop album charts and it's an incredible accomplishment for urban polynesian and NZ/Aus Hip Hop. "Savage Island" also made the Top 20 on iTunes Hip Hop albums at #20 solidifying his already solid online following.
